I failed! It turns out that blogging everyday is hard….To any readers who have been checking in everyday I’m sorry to have let you down! Unfortunately life got in the way and although Bex was able to fill in for me on Friday, Saturday’s post just didn’t materialise. I’m posting this on Sunday night in the US and will be back to the normal daily GMT schedule from Monday! Thanks for sticking with me 🙂
This week’s training has gone well and I’m happy to have one of the longer runs ticked off. I’ve been going to my local barre studio a lot and I really think it’s helping with my training. The classes focus a lot on glute strength and hamstring flexibility which are my weak areas so it’s turning out to be the best cross training. It’s also a great way to meet people in my local area so it’s a win win situation.
So, here’s what I’ve been up to:
Monday– Rest (travelling back from our camping trip at Soul Food Farm)
Tuesday– Barre/ TRX class
Wednesday– 1) Barre Class in the morning. 2) Track session; 1 mile warm up followed by 6x 800ms with a 400m jog recovery between each interval. Unfortunately I forgot my watch so can’t tell you my reps times. (Assume they were very fast 😉 )
Thursday: 1) Barre/ TRX class 2) 6 mile sightseeing walk along Embarcadero.
Friday: 18mile long run, average pace 9.58. I was so happy to get this done. I actually felt relatively strong and didn’t have my usual back pain so the combination of Barre and Jasyoga must be working. I followed it with 45 mins Jasyoga post- workout recovery videos.
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 10km trail run with the running club in Presidio. It was great to explore some of the trails in the park without getting completely lost!
After completing an 18mile long run the marathon is feeling a bit more realistic. Let’s just see how this week’s 20-miler goes…
