I think the above photo may explain why this week’s training didn’t go 100% to plan. I indulged over my birthday and then some more… so I’m not sure this week really counts as training. I did a few runs and went to some classes, but I decided to put off my long run until tomorrow. This was partly laziness and partly listening to my body as I just knew I didn’t have 20 miles in me on Friday. But, enough of the excuses. Here’s what I got up to;
Monday: Rest. Travelling back from Guerneville where we’d spent the weekend drinking wine, running trails and kayaking down the Russian River. When we got back to SF we moved into our new apartment which was so exciting- we love it 🙂
Tuesday: Barre class. I’m offically a barre convert! I’ve found a teacher I love and went to three of her classes this week. I’m always amazed how such small movements can cause such pain but hopefully it’s worth it! I’ve noticed much more strength in my glutes since attending the classes and haven’t had any back pain on my long runs so I think it’s really helping- fingers crossed!
Wednesday: AM- Barre class. PM: 10 x hill repeats. We were supposed to go to as track session with the running club but after being non-stop since moving into our apartment we just fancied relaxing at home so did a quick hills session before chilling on the sofa.
Thursday: Barre/TRX class
Friday: I was due to run 20 miles but just couldn’t find the motivation so headed to a yoga class instead.
Sunday: AM: 5 mile run. I’m blaming the margaritas we had on Saturday night for the fact we turned up 30 mins late for running club. Anyone who knows me knows I am never late! For some reason Cristiano and I thought it started at 10.30am rather than 10am. I have no idea why as we’ve been before. We were a little confused when we turned up and there was no one there but soon realised our mistake. We ended up doing our own run from Crissy Fields and caught up with everyone at the end. PM: Candlelit Yoga, which was much harder than the name lead us to believe!
Even though I worked out a lot this week I wouldn’t really classify it as marathon training. I’m going to do my long run tomorrow which should hopefully go well. I can then relax in the knowledge I’ve got two twenty milers under my belt 🙂 Three weeks to go….
